Yom Kippur

Havilah Tzytle Tabernacle

Last nite at fellowship we got to talk about Yom Kippur. The Day of Atonement. Starts tonight - thru tomorrow. Why talk about Yom Kippur? 3 Reasons.
1. It is central to our faith.
2. It has become part of the heritage of our country (Liberty Bell inscription)
3. It is part of the slang of our language. (scape goat)

My daughters Havilah & Tzytle had made a scale model of the tabernacle that we used for the explanation of the holiday.
OK - I will write more on all that when I get a chance.
There is so much neat stuff to write about this topic, this post is going to be a work in progress.

Kids & Adults fellowshipping together

I so appreciated how the children and adults were able to participate together in this discussion about Yom Kippur. The inclusion of Havilah & Tzylte's model of the Tabernacle was one factor. Another factor was how it was presented. It is possible to share weighty things like this in a way where both Kids and Adults get something out of it.

I remember so vividly how my friend Hal Miller shared with me years ago: "You don't have to dumb it down for the kids". Thank You Hal. Those words have inspired me ever since. I joy when I experience true age integrated fellowship, teaching and worship.
